who cares if it doesnt look like the subject! if making something look exactly like the subject you are drawing makes you an artist then, you have a misunderstanding of art. art is an expression. everyone is different. keep up the great work lon and ignore these so-called experts of art with their negative comments. i like your style cause it defines you and makes you who you are as an artist.

Allright, i watched the Video closely, read ALL the comments and I liked the video.I hope now im allowed to ask what pencil he is using?
Wow, you are an inspiration to me to be able to draw that quickly and accurately from life. I feel like a younger version of you in allot of ways. You share similar thought processes as me when drawing and my father also educated me while growing up how to draw portraits. Thank you, for speaking my mind and showing me this can be achieved with dedication and passion I believe I have too.

i think the secret is: first follow the principal shapes and angules from around the model, make the subcontructions shapes, be carfull whit the proportion, let it for the last the details.
be pacient.

GOOD LINES! That is the secret. If your lines are good your drawing will be good. If your lines are correct, your drawing will be correct. If they are weak, your drawing will be weak. Each line must have good expression. That is the secret to a good portrait. See my exercise sheet on my web site forum, the Virtual Drawing Institute. You can download it, print it, and use it to improve your skill.
