IHRA's new "Pro Fuel" category. Essentially, NHRA's Top Alcohol Dragster class, but called something different to accommodate the A/Fuel cars that make up the majority of it (one of the reasons the NHRA TAD class is a joke).
We were promised 8 A/Fuel cars. What we got were 4 A/Fuel cars, two of them being national points series contenders (Jeff Hamelink and Spencer Massey, who crashed out on Saturday when his throttle stuck), two local A/Fuel cars (Ed Verenka and Keith Falconer), and two Top Alcohol dragsters (Ashley Bart & Greg Sereda) that out-performed all the A/Fuel cars this weekend. Oops.
Falconer has been around the Edmonton drag racing scene since the 70's. Never heard of Hamelink before, but I guess he's running the full 2010 Nitro Jam circuit.
Both cars had trouble. This was virtually every A/Fuel pass all weekend. Other than Massey's spectacular incident on Saturday where his throttle stuck and he almost wrecked Ashley Bart in the shutdown area. Looks like one of the photographers got the hell out of there when they saw Falconer had four cylinders out before staging the car LMAO
