About as pure a recreational* handgun as one could find. A true classic.
* NOTE: The most important handguns are defensive handguns. Your firearms don't need to be sporting or recreational in order to be valuable, legitimate, and entitled to constitutional protection. But there is also a great deal of wholesome relaxation to be had in plinking at targets or even hunting small game (in season) on a sunny afternoon with a fine sporting rimfire revolver like this.

I need the 22 magnum cylinder for the old version single-six. If you know where to find one, or have one to sell please contact me. And are the shims what create the timing for firing?

dosent the transfer bar come up when you cock it and hit the firing pin not block it? and its safer because it is down when not cocked so the firing pin cant be hit?

@RAMBOKIDx7 oh yeah, great pistol.

If you have a .22LR and a .22 WRM. individual Revolvers and you shot with people who do not know weapons only bring out one ,22 at a time or better yet only bring one shooting. Because someone will load a .22 LR in your .22WRM. Guaranteed.

I wouldn't change between .22 shorts longs or long rifles as after a lot of rounds they erode the cylinder so you won't be able to load the longer round past the erosion in the cylinder wall. If your going to shoot a lot of .22 shorts better get a dedicated cylinder or gun for that.
It will take a while but it can happen.

@RedmanOutfitters Depends, I believe the frame is a little longer with the convertable than the standard LR. If not it should be fine

I just picked up a single six with the 9.5 inch barrel. I can't wait to get it. Damn 7 day waiting period here in RI. Nice video. It made me more exited about this gun. I have two .45's and a .357, and love them all, but it us nice to have something that will not break the bank to shoot all the time. Plus it is a very beautiful gun on top of it all!

I'd be grinning ear to ear if I was carrying a Ruger Single Six with six .22WMR cartridges in the cylinder! I just bought a Marlin .22WMR bolt action rifle and the Single Six would make a fine companion. I'd prefer the 5.5" or 6.5" barrel with adjustable sights.
I very much admire the Ruger Vaquero .45 Colt as well. Both the Single SIx & Vaquero look great whether blued or stainless

@Deep13Deep13Deep13 Actually the bullet is the same grain and diameter hense 22. the casing though is a little bigger so that is why they sell an intercgangeable cylinder
Could I just buy a 22mag Cylinder and interchange it with my standard Single Six?

@RedmanOutfitters You can but it needs to be fitted by a gunsmith to make sure the timing is correct.

I have a friend that by accident shot a few rounds of .22 lr's out of the .22 mag. cylinder, could that have done any damage to it. He didn't know there was a difference. I was thinking about buying the gun off him but didn't know after hearing that. Anyones help would be greatly appreciated. He wants $200 and its the older model stainless steel in great shape and both cylinders.

@tweirup It's probably fine. Check around the back of the barrel at the cylinder for any damage and the cylinder itself. Taking to a gunsmith would be the safest bet but it still should be fine. $200 is a great deal.
