@smwca123 Margaret Houlihan's shortcomings and all,she was a woman of principle and moral fiber.
Margaret Houlihan perhaps inevitably got tired of playing around with an idiot like Frank Burns. She then rushed into a marriage (Donald Penobscott) that failed; after that, she really blossomed more into her own person. She never again had a relationship with any other man on screen, including Charles Winchester. Perhaps the episode "The Nurses" really marked the turning point; after a feud with her nurses, they made peace of a sort.

I'm glad that Ms.Swit's character was finally permitted to grow and develop into a more caring and nicer person on"Mash"..otherwise..she would have remained a one joke type and she would have been written out of the show.
