Cool vid. Sam Fuller was the absolute best! Why "The Big Red One" wasn't as big as, say, "Saving Private Ryan," I'll never know. Such a man of the world, such social conscience, and a damn fine filmmaker! Thanks for posting, very enjoyable.
Oh, yes, you're so right. The DVD version is just spectacular! Have you seen "Hellboy"? Reason I ask is: the entire beginning with the officers and the crucifixion iconography is completely ripped-off from a sequence in "The Big Red One," an I submit that it has nothing to do with an homage. Yes, Sam Fuller deserves much more acclaim than he's gotten.
