Ah, yes, many episodes of "COMBAT!" are far superior to "SPR". But then, Spielberg sneaked in; Sam earned his way...

Cool vid. Sam Fuller was the absolute best! Why "The Big Red One" wasn't as big as, say, "Saving Private Ryan," I'll never know. Such a man of the world, such social conscience, and a damn fine filmmaker! Thanks for posting, very enjoyable.

It was because the version of The Big Red One first realesed was not the excellent reconstructed version we have today it was highly cut down.

Oh, yes, you're so right. The DVD version is just spectacular! Have you seen "Hellboy"? Reason I ask is: the entire beginning with the officers and the crucifixion iconography is completely ripped-off from a sequence in "The Big Red One," an I submit that it has nothing to do with an homage. Yes, Sam Fuller deserves much more acclaim than he's gotten.
