I have a question, i bought 3 stalks of the spiral lucky bamboos from an asian grocery. They didn't have roots, but the seller told me they would grow them. It's been half a year and they have grown roots but the roots look abnormal. Each stalk has many of them but they are very short and fat, any idea as to why this may be?

I am not sure if you check all of your questions on here but I am new to lucky bamboo, have always thought they were pretty so I thought I'd get one a try. The first question I have is, does it matter if I used purified water or tap water? And the second question is, is it ok that my room has bright florescent lighting?
