I had the great pleasure of seeing Theodore Bikel on-stage at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. It was my first time seeing a musical on the stage and I shall never forget it. I shook his hand. Twelve years old then, music major now!

Bikel ( Captain Von Trapp) is coming to Toronto on August 21st at Beth Emeth synagogue! It's Ashkenaz Foundation's greatest Yiddish concert of the year. See you there!

Julie Andrews was Liza Dolittle and Mary Poppins, and Mary Martin was Maria! The original casts still reign. Many of us grew up with these recordings. Thank you for sharing this, Cluzygirl.

Mary Martin was awesome, a legend. She played Peter Pan when she was in her 40s! She sings this very differently from Andrews. We're SO used to hearing her version: but don't forget, she came first!
