  • 1976 was the year that elton probably sang with his higher voice possible, never went low. The whole Blue Moves album is at high key. Imagine how this album whould have sounded if Elton had recorded it at, let's say, 1985! Nothing like the original! I have all his albums and some bootlegs, but I wish he was like Billy Joel - able to sing today at the same voice he sang at 1975.

  • You can hear the piano clearly too!

    Thanks for the interesting upload!

  • You can actually hear Elton sing both parts live on utube if you look for it~By the way Elton originally wanted this released with him singing both parts!

  • Fantastic! How do you get these stringless tracks?

Most of these tracks gives you a perspective on how they mixed for the final mastering.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for this great find!

  • @WhisperLady023 This is the unfinished version of the song. Elton's solo vocals were meant as a guide track for Kiki to sing over. It's unlikely that this will be released on CD unless it's later included on a deluxe edition of Rock of the Westies or Blue Moves.

The photo's from the cover art of the 1976 live album Here and There.

  • @GlitzPianoman very true..you can tear a piano up in G majot

  • @pianoplayinman I'm inclined to think Elton moved "Bitch" down a half-step for ease of playing, both for himself and for his guitarists (G Major is a much easier key to play in than A-flat is). He and his guitarists are certainly talented enough to play in A-flat, but I imagine G would be more comfortable for them.

  • Couldn't agree more. Many were sure that the surgery he had would end his career but I think it opened many new doors. Songs from the West coast is a perfect example. His "new" voice made those songs sound better than they couldve before i think, and even his old stuff sounds pretty good still.

  • some songs even elton sings in different keys, two that he admits are Someone saved my life tonight, and The BItch is Back. Someone was recorded in Aflat and today he sings it in F. Bitch was recorded in Aflat and Sung today in Gmajor
