I am just loving these clips!! So much story packed into 15 minutes it's amazing! Now, if they could have packed an hour like this maybe we wouldn't have lost the show.
Yes, the idea was that soaps were staid and didn't do this type of experimental sequence until after Dark Shadows became a success. I was surprised at this airing in 1966. The storytelling is definitely very good, better than soaps today. I still wish GL could get itself together.
This episode has such a "Twilight Zone" feel to it. Bill's drunken hallucinations are spot on. This is what really sets GL apart from other soaps, especially considering it was produced in the 1960's.
I also find that after I view several episodes I get more comfortable with the slower pace of the storyline. It is somewhat comforting to follow fewer characters in a less frenzied pace. Today's GL gives you 2 seconds of one scene and then rushes to different scenes in every few moments.
