Steve's enthusiasm while singing this song transfers to the audience and you can tell they really enjoy both. I think Steve liked performing for smaller audiences. He's simply the best there is in the business. Too bad the corporate side of the business pushed the group to perform at an unrealistic pace. How could Steve possibly maintain his love of music under those conditions?

does not have what he will never have? uh....that is a triple negative. so he will never have what is never to be had by what he has? hmmm. let me drop some acid and work THIS out. will get back with you in 30-72 hours with the answer.

If memory serves me correctly, wasn't this the NBC show, "Friday's" ???.
What a real treat to see this, and having watched it when it originally aired. The boys sure knew how to have a crowd get into thier performances.
Sadden that this sort of Magic really was a brief moment in time, having Steve's departure from the Band, yet, it's clips like this that really highlight a Moment in time to where Journey music was at it's pure Best!

Crowd clapping the whole song through. Where have these types of songs gone? Plus the constant groove starting from the first note. Awesome. Tell me you don't walk around the house dancing.

Steve Perry is just sexy! His voice is pretty wonderful too!!

Interesting observation Jerichoe and I agree with much of what you said. I think during this phase of Steve Perry's career he was fairly new to performing at that level and it was obviously very exciting for him. You could tell he was enjoying himself so much. I think performing might have lost some of it's luster between the critics comments, band dynamics and singing night after night. His soulfulness and spontaneity really shined during this period.

Steve Perry will never be equaled in Journey, but Arnel does do a respectable job. Don't h8, congratulate~!~

Calm down you ppl need to get a life ytoure all psychotic lunatics

In my humble opinion, and as a life long Steve Perry vocalist fan, the Departure album/tour era was Steve singing at his very best. Look at any live Journey clip on youtube from that period; Steve is more adventurous and open and daring with his vocals than ever before, or since. His phrasings and improvisations are incredible.
