This is not my car as I would've had this fixed long ago. Company car from my uncle. Has been driving like this for about a month now that I know of, possibly longer. I took it for a test drive, and it just lacks power big time. Basically driving without the turbo. Also puffs out a lil black smoke sometimes. We recently took the car through the mountains in Bavaria and Austria also, and I'd have to say we were lucky we never broke down. It still reaches 210 kmh which is surprising also with a blown turbo, and hasn't thrown an engine code yet! It is in the dealer now, but I won't know what they say until he gets the car back. Knowing dealerships, they most likely won't even fix it unless it's throwing a code.. just sounds horrendous. Dentist drill, metal on metal scrapping sound. I wonder what would happen if the turbo just seized up.. lol

  • Klingt doch geil. So muss ein Turbo klingen

  • you are idiot

  • genauso klingst bei uns

  • black smoke generally means your turbo works.... its what happens when you put your foot down, the car dumps loads fuel into engine but cause low rpms... some wont get burnt in the engine it self and gets into turbo where it burns in there and blasts out... ussually see it when u see diesels set off fast... it is also normal for turbo cars to burn a bit of oil... thats why u need check oil regular in diesel car and top up if appropriate

  • the turbo sounds 75 to 80% ok. you can t get 210 kph unless the turbo works. i should check the air filter and the diesel filters they smoke black if they fail.

  • turbo is ok.

  • @stcbenz83 if only my friend had listened to me when I told him that over and over after he got his Jetta TDI :-p

  • Sounds nice

  • But it does sound like your turbo's hit the trash on that one... or near it... does your uncle let the car idle for a minute or too after he's driven it 'hard' or for a long time? If you shut it down right away when the engine oils super hot, it will fry onto the turbo bearings and kill it.

  • IF the turbo's blown on a diesel it is a very dangerous situation... first you would have tons of white smoke which since you said you had black smoke once in a while, im assuming the turbo is still working... I.E.. black smoke is un burned fuel which could only be possible if the turbo is boosting..

If it has failed. and you continue to drive it, the blown turbo will start feeding the engine unregulated fuel (I.E. OIL) and the engine will over rev itself to death
