Not too hard. Do it with the gun unloaded and then hold the trigger while the rt is tightened completely. Then slowly turn the rt screw with a screwdriver or your fingernail while still holding pressure on the trigger. The gun wil start to shoot fast and faster. Stop turning the screw when you're satisfied with how fast the gun shoots. Hope that helps you out.
