Gorilla trekking the Kwitonda group in Rwanda. Music is Masai Sky by African Rhythms. My Guide Francois is featured at the beginning of the video. He worked with Dian Fossey and knew Digit. The name of this group of gorillas is Kwitonda which in turn is the name of the silverback. The total number of mountain gorillas in the world is estimated between 600-700. Here in Rwanda where Dian did her work, the estimate is around 380. NOTE: The recent discovery of 100,000+ gorillas in the Congo were lowland gorillas.

I was just with this group 3 weeks ago! Thank you for sharing...great footage of their play. I'm constantly checking the situation...the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project is keeping close tabs on their safety & protection. Moment by moment.

The situation is very bad. Go to the gorilla cd blog to keep up-to-date. You can donate to help the people and the gorillas there. I already have.
