Michael Jacobs is Visiting Professor at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics. From 2007 to 2010 he was Special Adviser to the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown with the responsibility for climate change and energy policy. From 2004-2007 he was a member of the Council of Economic Advisers at the UK Treasury, where he oversaw environmental taxation and spending policy. His books include The Green Economy (Pluto Press 1991) and Paying for Progress: A New Politics of Tax for Public Spending (Fabian Society 2000).
