A small 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house designed for a small lot with difficult deed restrictions in Sunnyslope, Arizona. I've taken advantage of the west facing mountain views as well. I've centered the core volumes to focus on a private courtyard to make the home feel larger. There is also a live/ work component intended with the 3rd bedroom / office having access to the courtyard and proximity to the garage which could also serve as an artist studio or workshop.
The design philosophy is based in the idea of two buildings folding into each other to create both private and common spaces. The smaller "L" shaped building which contains the garage and bedrooms is clad with a western red cedar rainscreen, while the larger shape consisting of the common spaces and roof canopoy for the courtyard has higher ceilings and an EIFS skin.
Windows and doors are simple commercial storefront systems.
Designed by Jason A. Steele, modeled in Sketchup.

Love the exterior aesthetic and color choices. I'd very much love to see this in physical form.
