I refuse to smash Ramuné bottles to get at the marbles. Because of that I've had a fair amount of practice getting the tops off. Here is my current method.
When all is said and done I recycle the bottles.
UPDATE:
There are some bottles that you can simply twist the top off of. So far in my own collection I have only come across one. It's definitely worth checking to see if your bottle has a twist off top - saving you time and energy in getting your marble out - but don't be surprised if yours isn't one of them.

There are chemicals in plastics called benzenes. They cause cancer. You should avoid inhaling them. Just saying.

My bottle lit on fire, burnt for 5 minutes, then broke when I lightly tapped it on the counter. I guess a brulee torch wasn't the best idea.
