This proves the worth of the Fender reissues.

When they say, "Change the tubes", they mean, change them out for better ones. Yours probably has Russian 'Groove Tubes'-branded Sovteks, which aren't too-bad, but you could do better with some Czech-made ones (T.A.D.'s, if you can find them, otherwise JJ/Tesla). To get better than that, you'd have to go with N.O.S. (new/old-stock) tubes from the classic eras ('50's/'60's/'70's).
Also, if you want smoother sound, replace the stock speaker with a good alnico-magnet model (Weber's are great).

I have a Dean Evo SS (or Ssomething - Mine has a solid flame-top) that I put Seth Lovers in. I really dig those pickups a lot. Especially the bridge. But I won't be able to truly-appreciate them until I replace the pots/wiring. I want to wire them like Page's guitar, and I hope I still can because my Seths are 2-conductor (I figured at the time that it was the more-vintage thing to do (like the lack of wax-potting), but now I see the convenience of the 4-conductor version. I need Page tones.

@gizmo7800 change the tubes (especially if it was a floor model), speaker also needs to be used a bit to loosen it up

Please tune your guitar to the backing tracks. Lose the drum machine and find a real drummer. Nice playing!

Sounds great! I just bought one and also bought an epiphone les paul. So why does mine sound like crap?????????? It's very tinny and the highs real cut you ear drums apart. Does anyone know the ideal settings for treble bass and mids????????? I'm thinking of bringing it back.
thats a silverface isnt it? yeah thats not going to break up like you want it to. i saw some guy ask about that. you can get these silverface amps cheap, and with an OD pedal they sound great, especially when they are running hot. The Danelectro coolcat OD1, believe it or not ,was an almost carbon copy of a TIM od pedal. i dont know if they are making those anymore but they cant be rare. so for like 350-450 for the amp, and probably 15 -25 bucks for the pedal, you are partying like its 1974.

actually it was a 2006 model Reissue. I ended up selling it because it was a bit harsh on the breakup, and I was digging the sounds I got from my silverface twin (now stolen). Good amp, but just wasn't for me. @solerso68
