X-Racer game that I programmed for the Hydra game system (based on the Propeller chip) created by Nurve Networks and Parallax. There is also sound and music, but my video capture card isn't working right. Visit my page at http://www.avalondreams.com/hydra/index.html

  • Once Again I must ask, whats keeping you from dumping the the original NES or SNES system software onto your propeller chip and dumping raw games onto a support card?

  • @oceanofdarkstars1 The propeller chip does not have enough resources to fully emulate an SNES or NES. There was someone who wrote an NES emulator that ran only 16K games, but because of the different mappers and the limit of only 32K on Propeller, I don't think it will grow beyond that. But it does have enough resources to clone those games.

  • @avalondreamsjtc Have you seen the FPGA arcade site? They are a group of programmers/Technicians/hackers/people with free time. who's only goal is to build the perfect working replacement that not only runs a system at 100% but will also integrate well on a full scale

  • @oceanofdarkstars1 I have been following that site for quite a while actually. It looks like they are getting close to releasing the hardware kit for it.

  • @avalondreamsjtc I cant wait till they do. I picked up an NES FPGA setup that a friend made me it is AMAZING

  • Very cool!

  • AWE MAN! This is GREAT work DUDE! :)

  • @Zelda64Fan - That is true. Only a small percentage of the this game (the low level graphics drivers) were programmed in assembly. The game itself and the sacling caclulations were programmed in the Parallax Propeller native SPIN language, which is really easy to use.

  • @DESTROYriaa You don't HAVE to program in assembly, there are other languages too according to the webside

  • really interested in this kit to make the games, but 200 bucks to program in assembly is really selling to a niche crowd. the price is way too high considering the parts :/
