A cool little Terminal hack that you can perform in Mac OS X Snow Leopard to get folders in QuickLook preview to show up with transparent covers. This gives you an "x-ray" style view of the icons of items inside that folder. Pretty neat.

Here is the command mentioned in the video:
defaults write com.apple.finder QLEnableXRayFolders 1

  • Perhaps you could have included the terminal command in the video description, so people could just copy and paste it from there?

  • @scottishwildcat I added it to the description (click more info). Thanks for the suggestion

  • Adam, have you covered the BetterZip QuickLook plugin? Shows you detailed contents of a zip file, without unzipping it, via QuickLook.

  • @Markasheppard Yes. Great plug-in.

  • Adam, nice vid! Long time no talk, eh? I think it's been since NME 2008! What is the screencasting app I see there in your dock? Don't think the icon looks familiar today :D

  • Excellent Snac Adam! Thanks. I Look forward to more. Good luck with the premium site.
