I rarely eat Poutine because I don't usually like how someone else makes it. Today's Poutine was okay more...but the gravy was a bit "industrial" for my taste.

And NO! "Cheese fries" is NOT the same thing as Poutine. The cheese curds are not melted on top of the fries. Hot gravy is poured over the fries and curds. The cheese stays more or less intact.

If you cannot find cheese curds, you could use thickly shredded white cheddar but it really is not the same.

Tomato sauce is NEVER used to make Poutine
