Knife Defense Series - Preemptive Knife Threat Counter

Description/Situation
An attacker draws a knife and starts threatening you with it. You have nowhere to run to, and so you must react to the situation before it escalates.
Steps:
1. As the attacker threatens you with a knife, raise your hands and verbally distract him.

2. Step forward with your leg on the side parallel to the attacker's hand holding the knife. Simultaneously grab the attacker's wrist holding the knife with your closer hand; quickly and completely pull it to the opposite side of your body.

3. Grab his wrist with both hands; straighten out his arm so that your biceps are trapping his arm above his elbow to your ribcage.

4. Step to the side away from his body with your further leg, while raising and twisting his wrist holding the knife, using both hands. By raising the wrist you hyper extend his elbow joint creating agonizing pain, further forcing him to drop the knife.

5. The attackers head will sink down due to the stress on his elbow joint and shoulder, knee him in the face until extreme fatigue is noticed. From this hold it is also possible to snap the attackers elbow.

6. Kneel downwards adjacent to the attacker's body, while maintaining your hold. At this point you may snap the attackers shoulder joint by applying forward pressure, or pin him down.

7. Once the attacker is fully disoriented and unarmed, you can either pin him down, or run for help. Remember this move is for defensive purposes only. Do not try this unless you're properly trained, or have proper supervision.
