The HB-SIAs wing „flying under worst conditions ever: wings load tests

These tests are nothing less but all about simulating the worst conditions under which the airplane could fly - in turbulences. Therefore, lead weights are needed. A lot of them. With how much have you loaded it? Which axis? Should we increase weight? Over. Testing the completely assembled 61-meter wing of the prototype Solar Impulse HB-SIAhas been a challenge not only for the wing, but also for the Solar Impulse Team: from one end of the hangar to the other, over 61m, the engineers must exchange precise information.
