This arrangement is based on a piece of library music (from the Chappell Recorded Music Library) used in the Season 1 episode 'The Infernal Machine' which notably, as well as featuring a great deal of library music, features a wonderful guest performance by Leo McKern (from The Prisoner and Rumpole of the Bailey) as 'Companion'. The original piece of music is entitled 'Dark Suspense No. 1'.

The original cue is unusual to say the least, featuring very different orchestration. I thought the music was very moving so set about doing an arrangement.

The arrangement opens with an original section of the music, followed by (from 13 - 33 seconds) a melody that I added to make it more palatable to play and less like 'background music' (the original features some sparse dissonance) and then from 33 seconds on returns to the original composition by Beda Folten.

Enjoy!

Produced on Sibelius 3 in 2007.
