In December 1975, Ronald "Butch" DeFeo was convicted of the heinous crime of murdering his family as they slept in their Dutch Colonial home on Long Island the year before. Since his incarceration, Butch has told approximately a dozen different versions of events that allegedly transpired that night, ranging from "the mob did it" to the devil told him to murder his family.
In 1992, DeFeo made a bid, via a 440-Motion under New York law, to introduce Richard Rommondoe as a material witness. Rommondoe, claimed DeFeo, as the brother of his wife Geraldine, was in the house with him at the time the murders happened. There was only problem with Richard Rommondoe -- he wasn't real. Eventually, Butch DeFeo's bid for a new trial would be dismissed when prosecutors defending the original conviction learned that it was all a fraud.
In this raw clip, Geraldine, DeFeo's former wife, talks about how "Richard Rommondoe" came to be a part of the Amityville story.
K everyone can stop watching the shitty remakes of old horror movies that the idea-less ballbags in H-wood keep shoving down our throats, n start gettin into the REAL DEAL!
