I saw Beau Dick there at the end. People should know he was instrumental in raising the Haida Mortuary Pole in the Namgis cemetery in Alert Bay on this event. People should know it commemorates the tragic journey of thousands of Haida to Victoria to make peace in the mid-1800s where they were blind-sided by diseased blankets. Only 300 made it back to Kwakawakawak nation waters where they were provisioned and permitted to die in peace at Bones Bay

Thank you for posting this. I had heard the story of the reason for the pole raising but I didn't want to post misinformation as I wasn't sure of my facts.

Awesome video... my husband is down there and I wan to be there as well. More video would be great.

We didn't make it to Alert Bay for the pole raising which I would have loved to see and video. We live in Port McNeill so don't get to the Bay a lot.
