Children need a mom and a dad equally. I believe you will start to see a lot of changes in the family courts. Also, it is evident that it is the "mom" who starts rocking the boat by slander and false accusations . Moms that do these things are truly hurting their children and themselves. Children need the love of both parents and shared parenting is the only way to go in all "normal" family cases. Shared Parenting is the only way to go and the courts need to revise thier antiquated laws now.
It's a matter of time! Now, we need to rectify the parents and children who LOST their time with each other. Who is going to compensate them same as a wrongful conviction?
I am a divorced single dad of two boys, my life was left devastated after divorce but there was absolutely no program of any type to help me. I have been left with debts from the divorce & 'settlement' so large that I will have to work until the day I drop dead in order to support my children & have any hope of paying those debts. My ex lives in a large upscale condo downtown. She pays no child support & doesn't work - she just lives off the money the courts stole from me.
What about single dads & their kids? There are over 500 shelters of various types for women in Canada, but there is NOT A SINGLE shelter of any kind for fathers nor a single cent spent on shelters or programs geared towards single dads & their kids.
I am a victim of spousal abuse but because I am a man there is no program, no shelter, nothing anywhere in the country for other men like me.
Men across the country want to know how many male suicides are caused by the devastating loss that men feel at being booted out of their children’s lives by an uncaring, unsympathetic, and – some would say – demonstrably biased Family Law system. The majority of studies of depression after divorce show that men are far more likely to suffer severe depression at the loss of their families and their children than are women. Yet where is the government funding to address this issue?
It is estimated that the Family Justice system in Canada is responsible for the deaths of up to 2000 divorced & separated men in Canada every year. Figures from StatsCan provide evidence that over the past 10 years this is approximately the number of divorced & separated men in the country who commit suicide annually.
Numerous studies in Canada, the U.S., and abroad indicate that suicide is the leading cause of death for divorced & separated men through middle age.
