I disagree, study with the help of the spirit, and you'll learn a lot more. But doesn't the Bible tell us not to memorize our answers but to rely on God to give us answers to all questions thru the spirit so we can defend our faith?

I definitely helps to memorize as much scripture as possible! I like how he calls it a weapon or a sword. I'm working on a website that I hope will help a lot of people memorize scripture called myWhetstone

Brother Yun from China is a great example of doing this and how it sustained him, I"m sure that it does increase our prayers because the word is in our mind and heart and then on our tongue, I intend to do it more, and one day we may not have a bible to read, we will have to live with what we have memorized.

Great advice! I am currently working on memorizing Romans chapter 12... I think I will memorize a shorter book like Philippians or Galatians before trying to conquer all of Romans, though. O:)

it helps to just apply those memory verses to your life because everytime you read the bible, the bible is talking to YOU, God is talking to you.. And when you feel tempted.. say to your self "Does God want me to do this? Would God be pleased?" Galatians 5:16 So i say, live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
