You can see this LIVE along with many more performances from people of Ethiopia's southern Rift Valley at the MILLENNIUM FESTIVAL OF A THOUSAND STARS which will be staged in Arba Minch town, South Ethiopia, from 15th to 17th December 2007. This is going to be a big event, around 50 groups are expected to perform, so book early.

The Kafacho people live in Kaffa. Kaffa is in southwest Ethiopia in the region called Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples or SNNPRS.

Incidently the Kaffa region is where arabica Coffee is said to have originated. The similarity in the words Kaffa and Coffee would not appear a simple coincidence.

Those who produced this music are as much Ethiopian as anyone else born in Ethiopia. These songs are traditional songs from the Kaffa region. This is 100% Ethiopian music. Just because you have not heard it before, or it doesn't seem familiar to you is no reason to assume it isn't Ethiopian.

When I was a student at AAU, there were dumb ass Bole kids who did not know how to take lecture notes; they always copied my notes and sat next to me during exam so that they could copy.
