Its because these people are so ignorent and have no clue between the battle flag and what it stood for and the remake of the flag, "dixie"

The Stars and Bars Flag is the original flag of the Confederacy. Most racist would not know the difference between it and the battle flag. It got confusing on the battle field and thus the St Andrews Cross version was born.
I usually fly several different flags including the Bonnie Blue.
When you learn the true history behind the flags, only then can you understand.
