I got a midterm in two days and man, youre saving my life!

I have very stupid problem .
I have char array and i cant add value to every element that i want for example
i've tried
mychararry[x]=a;
mychararry[x]="a";
and none of then doesnt work .
How to assign value of type char to certain element of an array?
