The strange twisted parts to me sound like America screaming for help...

@ThePopsheep really, its all about interpretation. To me, the way its all distorted and twisted is a metaphore of the strange american culture.

@Amalkamis Actually, this isn't about freedom so much as it is a protest against the Vietnam war, the guitar stops for the "noises" where the anthem lyrics are "rockets" and "bombs", and they are meant to emulate the sounds of war, bullets, bombs exploding, shrieking airplains, screams of pain, the suffer of war, and the horrors it brings. It has nothing to do with cries for freedom...

@thejellyboy99 No, but he did do advertisements for them. Basically he just held it, and they took pictures, but he never played one in concert.

now the real thing about jimmi is, that he can take a relitively simple song, and stretch it and distort it into a master piece, is for example, i taught my little brother how to play the song voodoo child, but it doesnt sound anywhere as good as him

this guy single handedly made playing the guitar cool.
The thing about this song...is if you listen to it...the "butchering" you people call it...is supposed to represent the cries for freedom, as well as the planes that usually soar high above the battlefield. Parents, wives, husbands, all of that. Especially the last stanza or so is supposed to be him effectively "crying" through the sound showing that his heart goes out to all those who truly fought for such a freedom to play the song as he chose to. THAT...is why so many treasure this song.

NO ONE could EVER be able to live up to Jimi's greatness when it comes to making love to his guitar.
