The picture is taken from a separate event, "Performers sing Arirang, a traditional Korean folksong, during the World Arirang Festival in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province, Sunday (Oct. 1).

Twenty-three troupes from 11 countries, including Thailand, Russia and Cuba, are taking part in the Sept. 29-Oct. 2 event to promote Arirang around the world. Jeongseon is famous for its own version of the folksong".

Arirang is not merely love song. The theme of the best-known part is love.

In Korea, when person passed through one's hard time in life, he (or she) calls it as "I crossed over the hard hill"

Arirang is a korean folk song which you can sing in your hard time. Life's trials and suffering, joy/anger/love/happy..... And regain your energy to start again.

Arirang- ari(beautiful) rang(used as honorary followed after a person's name or title among the young since the three kingdoms period til Josun dynasty in korea).

Therefore it's not Arirang Pass.

Arariyo- it's an ancient korean that lost its meaning along the way but is translated as lovesick(heartbreak) by many korean scholars analogized from similar sounding korean being used today. Used as a verb.

Seems like alot of Koreans take the song for granted that they know the song but not truly.
