稲妻の記憶 東京スーパーセル TokyoSupercell 1999/7/21

1999年7月21日、練馬豪雨と言われる都市型集中豪雨の日。時間降水量が130ミリを超え浸水、落雷などの被害が出た。ヒートアイランド現象で急速に積乱雲が発達し局­地的なゲリラ豪雨となった。日本ではあまりスーパーセルとは言わないが、東京スーパーセルとタイトルをつけてみた。高画質再生です。
自主制作版「稲妻の記憶　DVD」に収録されている。

I assume the pausing for lightning is some editing or camera trick, but what would that be called? How does it pause the rest of the motion and get such clear shots of the lightning? Is it just a high speed camera?

I edit it. The lightning lengthens a piece, in the interval, is speedup

No he just slows it down to an almost stop so we can actually see the lightening strike. If he just kept it on fast forward for the time lapse like the rest of the video we would hardly see a flash.

Pretty clever editing actually.

@easymac79 Simple. You stop the time lapse whenever there's a lightning strike. Normally clouds move too slow to be visually tracked, even during a storm with significant rotation like this one. So they appear to stop for the lightning.
