Detroit Fire kills 2, injures 3

DETROIT (AP) - A drunken man playing with fire started a blaze that killed at least two people in a low-income apartment building and left one woman missing, a fire official said Friday.

Thursday night's fire at the five-story Huntington Hotel also injured a resident and two firefighters.

A man living at the building used a piece of paper to light a cigarette and accidentally touched off the fire Thursday night at the Huntington Hotel, said Detroit fire Capt. Steve Varnas.

"He was on a drinking binge all day. He lit a piece of paper on fire and he thought he put it out. He didn't," Varnas told The Detroit News. No arrests have been made.
