Carys 'Matic' Jones - Introspective (webcam experiment version)

I was overwhelmed by the response to the video Sonny Side Films made for my poem "Deluded Minds" (the video can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q_LgloxBIg). I received a lot of positive feedback and several people said they would like to hear more, so I made this video using my crappy webcam (which is why the sound & video quality is so terrible). The beat was made by the incredibly talented Chris 'Pro9het' Foley, here's a link to his Soundcloud page: http://soundcloud.com/pro9het

As I mention in the video, I only finished the second verse yesterday so don't have the whole thing memorised yet which is why I keep looking down at my paper. I also struggled to fit all of the syllables in at the end but for a first attempt I don't think it's too bad.

I think you should speak it more instead of rap it. like in deluded minds. I think when you speak it, it is more personal and more powerful. I like it eitherway though :D

@honeycooler Thank you for listening & for the feedback. I wrote it as a rap but I have also performed & recorded it as a poem (I originally wrote Deluded Minds as a rap, too). People seem to be divided, some prefer it as a rap, others as a poem. I guess that's the beautiful thing about all forms of art, it's all subjective. I love your videos by the way!

@klemas1983 Thanks for the comment. I appreciate your feedback, but it's a common & negative misconception that hip hop is about being "gangsta". I've been rhyming since I was 13 years old & used to win "keystyle" rap battles online, no one was aware that I was a middle class, white, English female & if they did know that I'm sure they would have judged me. The reason why I made this video is because people heard me & told me I had a talent & encouraged me to not be afraid of what people think.

What might be interesting is for you to make a dual album. Gavin Degraw has an album called chariout. it has 2 cds, one is really full of sounds, and the other cd has the same songs but accoustic. maybe you can do a rap cd and a poetic cd combined. I look forward to hearing more of your stuff.
