I only hope this video can give you some perspetive as to how big this city really is. From the Sun Gate, it looks like a tiny little thing tucked between two mountain peeks but when you get in, it is huge. It took them over 100 years to build but was only inhabited for around 50. No one really knows why they left or disappeared, but the most likely cause was that they were being invaded and so they dropped everything and left. Although it is the off season, the early morning brings in trainloads of (lazy) tourists so our fellow hikers moment´s of peace eventually become slight. We take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then a bus back to Cusco were we all part ways and finally get to take a warm shower.
