I don't think they are supposed to be jitterbugging. It's more of a choreographed line dance with ballroom and rock and roll accents. More with the times than the spastic jitterbug.

Well, it's clear that by 1959 the dancers had completely forgotten how to jitterbug. Their dancing is pathetic.
