I got a lot of talk about the "Locust tactic" in this old game, so I made a video about it.

  • Nicely done - thanks for putting this up and illustrating the 'exploit'. I'd legged more BLR-1G's with my little 20-tonner back in the day...

Out of curiosity, what method did you use for video capture - DOSBox itself? A glitch arose between DOSBox and this game in later versions, making it impossible for FRAPS or similar to record (MW needs DOSBox to output to "surface" and FRAPS can only record OpenGL or D3D) and thus no audio commentary...without more work than I'm willing to put in. :(

  • @empath69 I used a program called camstudio to record around the DOSBOX window. It doesn't record audio on later systems, so I used the MW2 soundtrack. The game itself only makes beeps though, so it's not a terrible loss.

  • Since its not shown, can You tell Me the first song at the beginning?

  • @racer927 Wolf Trial from the Mechwarrior 2 soundtrack.

  • PC's were expensive back then!

  • Very interesting !

  • I think you could even destroy a foot on the mech, instead of a whole leg to get it to fall down, more salvage for you. Of course once you got a ppc you could just snipe their heads at long range by zooming in with the targeting computer.

  • Man, I used to love this game! Great stuff! Ha, I used to use the same technique all the time! :)

  • @RAMBO46704 it was made in 89 jaggoff.

  • old school games, can't beat em.
