In war, truth is the first casualty.

All wars are civil wars because all men are brothers.

  • a really good war movie. shows a good bit of the cruel realitiy instead of all the typical "whe are soldier and we are going to save the day movies"

    Ps.

Kind of funny to see a lot of people complaining about that the americans are badly supplied. and why are there no planes?? well you see that the weather in the movie is heavily clouded. Back in ww2 bad weather equals no air support!

  • I really like the tactical accuracy of this movie. Perhaps the first thinking mans war movie. The Germans are relying on their guns but when they're lost have to throw in their reserves, the 2 mark IV's, to prevent the breakthrough. Just like it would have been. If you want to see Tigers then go see Speilberg's S.P.R. In reality Tigers would never have been employed in this situation. There were strict protocols governing there use i.e. to stop armoured breakthroughs.

  • Luitenant lost his mind...

  • this battle was largely forgotten because americans got slaughtered

  • @tigeracew H model - because this is during 1944 - during WWII the main production Panzer IV was the Ausf H - approximately 3000 were made of this model alone out of the 8-9000 some models of the Panzer IV made during WWII - you can tell it apart from not just the standoff armor but also the gun - the earlier Ausf G had no double-baffle improved muzzle brake that the Ausf H had and armor - both had 80mm armor but Ausf H's was better becuase it was a single homogenous piece rather than bolted on.

  • @frisbeeswagstersowda For example at Leningrad or Kursk the Tiger I's often were rushed and poorly used hence they broke down for the matter :( But by the defensive battles of 1944 the Tiger I was indeed excellent for defensive battles and ambushes though again there were also Jagdpanzers by then due to the war situation and shortage of materials - as for profile yes the Tiger was reasonably compact but the German Jagdpanzers were laos even lower in profile!

  • @frisbeeswagstersowda Panther and Tigers yes - but remember when German more or less was still on the offensive - at least till Kursk the Germans actually embarked on projects for a heavy break through tank originally weighing no more than 35-45 tonnes and carrying either a high velocity 75mm or 88mm gun cannon and armor sufficient to survive the assault! While the Tiger I was actually used on the offensive - remember it was at Hitler's insistence and its potential wasn't fully appreciate!

  • @HeirofGojira91 wouldn't the tiger 1 be best for ambushes because of its low profile?

  • Dwight Yoakum is such a dickhead in this movie.

  • talbot is bad ass.

  • @azt76 Okay I believe that anyone who fights in a war is brave, does not matter who's side you are on. Lets not start a pissing contest.

  • @lew7272 Its also interesting that the Panzer IV was meant to be a heavy support vehicle up until Russia 1941 where the apperance of the KV-1 and T-34 forced some adjustments in its armor and firepower where the installment of the KwK 40 L/43 then L/48 made it better suited for a dual role of Tank-tank battles and HE against infantry - it was said Panzer IV's along Tiger I's and Panthers inflicted a good casualties on the Allied advance in Normandy :(...
