Here's the full body decal sessions for this kit. Very intensive work. This is going to take several uploads.

Finished and because I rushed it, I screwed it up in the very last moments!

  • When I finally have a chance to get this model kit, this will be the beginning of modeling for me.

Any tips for a beginner like myself, especially for the decals?

  • @MASSEFFECTfan101 This model is easy to build, but the decals are a major trick even for experienced guys. A lot of people have difficulty with the decals on this kit in particular. If you are getting into models, make this one your 2nd or 3rd and don't stress if you screw up! Take that lesson and do better on the next kit you build and come back to this kit again later.

An easier one would be the TOS Enterprise or the Klingon, also in this scale, just to get you used to making kits.

  • @ModelManTom Check the hobby forums out there for other people who have built this model. hobbytalk dotcom is particularly good and very welcoming to the newbie. Starshipmodeler dotcom is another to look around as they also sell a wide range of kits and supplies. FInally, scalemodeladdict dotcom is a good one to check out. SMA has a channel here on youtbe too. Look him up! He's listed on my channel's front page along with a bunch of other good modeling channels.

  • I'm about to start this kit and I wanted to know what kind of decal solvent you used. Micro-sol? Solvaset? Testors? Thanks!

  • @Dylan1191698 Probably Solvaset but I have Micro on hand too. I must have said in one of these videos.

  • @mrtrek64 i saved the nacelles for last two. There's a couple decals that made no sense to me for a long time. Finally once all the others went on, they suggested themselves. I think they were the upper rear ones. I probably mentioned how batty they drove me in one of the installments here.

Now that I've built one of these, I can tackle the second and any others much better.

  • @ModelManTom

Thanks for the tip. It worked out great. I'm up to the nacells now and can't seem to figure those out. I'll keep at it though as I'm it will come to soon enough. :)

  • It was probably the Solvaset decal setting solution that snugged them down. The stuff is magic. Microsol is the other major brand out there. A few bucks a bottle. If you go back a few episodes, I'm sure I talk about them and show them off. Thanks for tuning in!

  • Hi.I just finished decaling the saucer of my kit. However, you have managed to maintain very definitave lines on both the top and bottom of the saucer. How did you do this? Did you wait for the decales to dry and then push the decale into line groves, or do you have to do this when the decale is first applied?

Thank you for any help and beautiful job!!!

  • the white pearl paint does make the features come to life a bit, and the detail....awesome!
