Macross Plus - arcade shmup - 1996

Attract mode demonstration sequences. Macross Plus is a vertical shoot em up developed and published by Banpresto released in Japan in year 1996. Players have the choice between three Valkyries to play: the VF-11 Thunderbolt, Shinsei Industry's prototype YF-19, and General Galaxy's YF-21 model. There are seven stages, each ending with a big boss.

I love shooters like this!!! This would have been a perfect title for the Saturn. I wonder if it was released anywhere for the Saturn.

They made a Macross game for the PC Engine in 1992 it was a Super CD-Rom and it was called Macross 2036.

None of the arcade Macross games got ported but I heard the Super Famicom shmup Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie is supposed to be REALLY good.

As a HUGE fan of the Macross Plus OVAs, I approve of this video game. They have several elements of the OVAs in this game. A strange note is the demo shows them blowing up Earth's defense forces more than the known enemy one. Makes me wonder if you have to take on SDF-1 Macross at the end of the game.
