When my friend found out I was going to Morocco, he said I had to try and find the 'mystery meat.' Turns out it's lamb (or goat) meat left in the sun for a few days, and then stored in a bunch of fat. It was really salty, and definitely had a strong flavor... but by the time I was done with my plate I wanted more. I think Andrew Zimmern just had a bad batch.
