it has one, the wiimote needs two sources so it can map its position and its at the bottom so you are not pointing at the screen

would it be possible to use a usb light or something to do the infra-red??? I understand how the candles work... but obviously I don't want to keep candles by my macbook :) I also dont want to have to have my wii right next to it too :-\

Yup, just pickup some high output IR LEDs from RadioShack and connect them in a parallel circuit to a single AA and you're good to go.
