This repair is required on some Kenmore canister vacuums when a Panasonic (manufacturer of Kenmore vacuums) 3 wire electric hose is used. If you've purchased a Panasonic 3 wire replacement hose, and it doesn't work on your Kenmore canister (make sure your machine uses a 3 prong hose), then this may be a simply fix that will allow the Panasonic hose to be used on your machine. Here is an example of a Kenmore hose manufactured by Panasonic that may have this effect. http://www.govacuum.com/7805-Kenmore-...
First you will need to remove the screws from the handle exposing the on/off switch and wiring. Then you simply need to switch the blue wire (currently connected to blue) with the white wire (currently connected to white) so that the blue wire leads to the white and the white wire leads to the blue.

I have to replace the connection at the other end of the hose. Do you have any videos for replacing the elbow connector?

No, we actually only recommend replacing this end only or the entire hose assembly. Both of which can be purchased online at GoVacuum dot com

Yes, I too had the elbow connector go bad - got a new one but hard to figure out how to disassemble the original to replace it...

Thankyou! I have 2 pieces broken off the molded handle. One part fits in the switch base & the other is a mystery. The base for the switch is not well built. (It's a piece of Kenmore crap made in Mexico...sorry). I'll get some crazy glue for the obvious part & hopefully, it will be strong enough to handle the switch mechanism. Perhaps I should reinforce the bottom of it with epoxy? Wished I could email you a photo to ensure I am doing the right thing.

This vid was excellent. I bought a replacement hose and it did not work. Reversed the blue and white wires, as described. Works perfectly. Thank you very much!!

This modification can also be made on the other end of the hose.

Thanks for this video....I have a similar issue, but it's the connector on the top and bottom end of the wand and the connector in the handle.......I see in this video how to get the handle off easily......I have no clue how to replace the connectors though. It would be cool if you could make a vid showing that.......

    Thanks
