Clio 1.5 Dci 2002 80hp,
I have problem with cold starting from +7 C and under. It happens only in first start, the rpm goes from 900rpm to 200rpm for around 30 sec and when this is happening the accelerator pedal does not work, after around 30 sec everything goes OK. If the car is warm it starts fine. There are no warning lights, it has been to Renault Service, no faultcodes present. If anyone have any idea about this please leave a comment.

  • Hi :)

I just wondered if you ever got this sorted out ... as my 2003 diesel clio is doing the exact same thing now its November, and getting colder here in the UK ....

If you could let me know what the fix was or which part needed cleaning or changing I would be very grateful :)

    Hi :)

After a year of checking the solution this problem i finally found something "stupid" that effect on this first start, for one year I almost check everything on my car starting from glow plugs, crank sensor, air sensor, turbo air sensor, egr valve etc i cleaned everything and no result till now!!! I went to one garage who is responsible only for electrics and they said that the problem is in Alternator pulley!!! Before 2 weeks I changed this part and now everything is OK

Hey .. I finally fixed my cold start problem too.

It was the glow plug relay. We cleaned it and all is fine again.

    :)

  • dont worry is normal for diesel cars, I have a dci 65 and 80 and passes the same or worse at a temperature from -5 to +5 Celsius, before starting the engine needs to heat the gas ... try to contact a few times before starting, I do so and start the first
