The most interesting feature of the optical system consists in its ability to play ancient and damaged records, as may be found in the sound archives of National Institutes and broadcasting stations.

  • does it cost less than the ELP? if so, I WANT ONE!!!

  • How does one repair vinyl, shellac and cylinder records so that the original quality is restored, with no clicks or pops in the recording. Make a video on that, showing the repair process and the before and after repair playback section with the optical fiber turntable.

  • loled @ 3:51 ... and yes that is what I call great job, LAser turntable is out now and I think its the same method .

As far out there as that sounds, I believe it can actually be done.

I used to work at a company that made credit card encoders. We had a spray that contained tiny iron filings. When sprayed on a mag strip (or tape) you could see how the data was written on the card. Using this method, I'm sure you could bounce a beam off the surface and modulate it. It's been done with film - that's how the audio is inserted (just not a magnetic medium). Its read off the film by light.

  • I wonder if there can also be a tape cassette recorder that not only has Dolby SR Noise Reduction, but can also play cassettes using a laser beam instead of a magnetic head. Anyway, someone please make a video showing, I don't know, "I'm In The Mood For Dancin' 89" on 12" vinyl being played on this optical fibre turntable

  • and possibly much less expensive

  • how much does this system cost?,

    i want one!.

  • please patent this to a company, i'm having troubles playing my records on my turntable, and i feel using a laser would help
