This tutorial explains the process of abstraction, whereby a sub-patch is saved as a separate file and created as an object. This is different from simple encapsulation, since individual instances of an abstraction cannot be edited. Abstraction is useful when it is necessary to create multiple instances of a sub-patch. Simple encapsulation is more useful as a way of rationalising sections within a large patch.
Thanking you muchly. I'd forgotten how to do this for a moment.
