In this video, I discuss the similarities between my tactics in the after school Debate program, to that of the "journalism"/"reporting"/commentating style of "FOX News".

  • I could be mistaken, i;ve only watched the young turks twice. From my own experience they view everything through the narrow scope of dnc = good guys and gop = bad guys. Maybe i was assuming too much after only watching a small bit. is there a link to something where they agree with the right?

  • The thing about "The Young Turks" that I like is that they attack President Obama and people on both sides of the isle (mostly Republicans) with actual facts. They are a Progressive show, but that doesn't mean they are biased. I can see where the negative connotation can come into play when they specifically side with a specific group/party, but I've been able to look past that, and see TYT for what they truly are: a fair show.

Democrat or Republican, I'd recommend seeing more clips.

  • i think uve convinced me to check them out a little bit more. maybe they aren't as biased as i thought. But being a "progressive" show kind of implies that they see every snippet of news through the prism of liberalism. That would make them biased. I'll check out some vids of theirs later tonight tho.

  • Awesome! And after watching some more clips, you would have the ability to create a logical opinion about that show based on seeing it for yourself.

Keep in mind, the part that may turn Republicans off (I'm not sure if you are one, but just in case) is some of the humor implied in their commentation. For example: They make fun of Palin's accent when they quote her. It fits in perfectly, because they can completely debunk what she says, but it may sound "biased" to a Republican's ears.

  • The difference is, Fox takes a RNC memo and copies it, complete with typos, and passes it off as their "research". No other news outlet does that. That is PROPOGANDA, not news. It's an outrage.

  • The definition of "bias" contradicts what The Young Turks actually are. The definition of bias relates to the fact that you would support something/one / a party unfairly. But how can expressing your opinions, while supporting them with facts and evidence be biased, under that definition?

  • Both styles are legit. Biased news is still news. Reporting on politics in a completely non-partisan way is pretty tough. Even after world war II, there were news stories decrying our "abuse" of captured nazis. Whenever i read something i make sure to take note of the source. "So the right-wing spin from the heritage foundation on the climate summit is. . . . And the left-wing spin from the new york times is.." I'm sure you know the young turks is a very partisan source btw

  • True, but that makes their stories illegitimate?

  • Msnbc only has concilitory, idiotic right wing peeps on. Fox at least invites smart lefties as well as nutjobs and moderates. I agree that fox isnt fair and balanced, but neither is pmsnbc, cnn, ny times, washington post, san fransisco sun, etc etc etc etc

  • So because MSNBC doesn't have any right wingers, that makes them "worse"?
