  • OF COURSE HE'S GOOD, Dan is not going to hire somebody who is does not have caliber. Ron Stewart sound as good as any other good banjo player, so much so that I could never pick him out of a crowd of great banjo pickers. That being said Ron Block's playing is great but has his own character blended in, this Ron is a robot.

  • @newflipvideos Sorry pal, I gotta disagree... Perhaps it's because I've heard the many, many CDs Stewart has played on as a session musician or maybe cause I have studied his playing quite a bit, but he's definately got his own style. Maybe not as immediately recognisable as Ron Block but I can always tell when Stewart's behind that 5.

  • Does anyone recognize the banjo Ron is playing?

  • @Robin18us Yeah, it's a Ronnie Stewart model Yates banjo.

  • CONSIDER THE CORN PROPERLY SHUCKED BY ALL!! This has to be one of the tightest bands out there today. Great job!

  • Ron Stewart always kills it.

  • @newflipvideos This ron (stewart) has more passion in his hands than anyone in the history of bluegrass. Robot? where did you get that?

  • @newflipvideos then you have a deep appreciation for Ron & Ron & Sammy & Scott & Jason & Barry & Kenny & Chris & Steve - because as far as I know, not a single one isn't "self-taught". Guess that makes them all "organic" (whatever THAT means).

  • @newflipvideos Couldn't agree more - Ron is beast on the instrument. But if you can't hear the difference between Ron (Stewart) & Ron (Block) & Sammy Shelor & Scott Vestal & Jason Burleson & Barry Abernathy & Kenny Ingram & Chris Pandolfi & Steve Dilling - then you just haven't been paying attention in Contemporary Bluegrass Banjo class.

  • @nsbluegrass, that was a very well stated reply, you must be a banjo player. I play the banjo, but dont consider myself a a "banjo player". A real banjo player would know, I'm convinced you know what you know what you are talking about. Ron Block was self taught, I have a deep appreciation for the "organic" musicians of the the world. Be well dude.

  • nsbluegrass Thanks for the info, but since I posted my question I know how a Ron Stewart Yates myself. I like it, but feel it needs a bit more volume.

  • god, i love a good banjo player, and it's pretty hard to beat Ron Stewart.
