I ordered some very cheap 27mm piezo elements off eBay, and four standard 1/4" mono jack inputs... my soldering iron isn't even here so i just stuck the red and the black wire from the Piezo, onto the terminals on the jack input. Used a bit of Moon Gel to stick the Piezo to my make shift drum pad (mouse mat) so it'd stay still. I just used my M-audio fast track pro for this quick tester, and used Dramagog in FL Studio - took me about a minute to get the gain settings on the interface and the sensitivity settings on Drumagog working good enough. You can see how responsive it is. At this stage, it is picking up very loud noises like a stick count in for example, and the velocity response is SLIGHTLY dependant on where abouts you strike the mouse mat. Still, i think this stage 1 tester went pretty well... on Friday i'll hopefully be sticking it to a real acoustic snare drum for recording trigger data. Hope this has been of some help, and wish me luck ;)
